Hey looking for anyone that likes small live music shows, plays, indie films, pretty much anything creative and fun. I've been in the area for a while but I tend to travel a lot to Fringe/Film/Music festivals and thus don't know anyone around here to go to shows with. I have a show coming up in Ames on Jan 27th for Serena Ryder that I have an extra ticket to. If we hit it off it's yours. Looking for someone who is accepting of others, I hate those jerks that sit in crowds and nit pick at everyone passing by, that likes to attend and then discuss the events that we go to. As mentioned I travel a lot during better weather thus if we get along well enough thsi could lead to awesome road trips. I'm pretty laid back and easy going. I don't care if you're male/female or if you're straight/not straight/or not sure because this is all about the events and having fun.

I was seeing if there are any native Spanish speakers (spain, mexico, central and south america) who want to get together and do language exchanges. I am a native English speaker, so it could be ideal for someone that wants to improve their English. I am thinking of meeting once or twice a week and just conversing as much as possible. You could even speak in English the whole time (to practice your English) and I would try and speak Spanish as much as possible.

I am unsure of the schedule, but was thinking maybe one hour or so a couple times a week at whatever location would be convenient for both of us. I am a 27 year old male who has traveled to Central America a few times and South America in the last couple years. Looking for a softball tourney team (Des Moines)

I am looking for a softball team to play with next year. I played this year with a team that was mediocre at best and am looking for something more serious (actually have BP, play in tournaments).

I play OF, (LC mostly, or LF if he was gone) and would prefer to stay out there. I'm comfortable playing LF/CF in a 5 man infield as well. Good, steady fielder who can cover more than my fair share of ground, and hold runners from advancing throwing in.

Towards the end of the year, I came into my own on offense, as I began to hit for power to all fields and moved into the cleanup spot. Lots of doubles/triples to all fields.

Last season I waited to long to find a group to play with, so I want to make sure I'm getting myself out there to find a team that wants to take it a little further than rec league.

Update on Indoor Flag Football League (Central Iowa)

I've been researching and planning for this league and here's what I've come up with.
Des Moines Public Schools wants to charge us about 200 a weekend for two hours of play at a local school gym.
That would be 4 games at 30 minutes a game. An 8-10 week season with 8 teams signed up. Two conferences, two divisions per conference. Each team would play each other once. At the end of regular season, the team with the best record in each conference would be the number one seed in that conference and play the lowest seeded team in a bracket systems that would lead to the championship game. Divisional Champ-Conference Champ-Overall Champ.
My plan would have a minimum of 8 teams and each player would have to pay $30. This would cover Gym rental for 8-10 weeks, liability insurance (required by the school district), $15 to pay 1 referee per game. The school district also said we might have to play with a nerf ball as to not destroy anything in the gyms.
My idea is to have the coach from each team become committee members and we would meet early before the season to vote in a Commissioner, Vice, Secretary and Treasurer. Then go over rules. Set the season schedule which would start around Feb and end around the first part of April depending on if more than eight teams sign up. And there are some females that have contacted me about making it a co ed league which I am all for but I think it should be mixed with females and males on the teams and not women only teams and men only teams. Matter of fact, lets just set a rule right now. You have to have at least 1 female on your team. In the next week I will be hunting around to find a better deal on hosting games, but until then, this is the best deal I have worked out.
By the way, people are asking why I came up with this idea. I'm kind of over weight and the doc says I could stand for a little exercise. Well I figure this would be more fun then working out in the gym by myself.
Well, those still interested, email me and I will send you a flyer and contact information, then I would need definite commitments by mid January and a minimum of 8 teams registered. I will also be sending the flyer to the Wellness Dept of some of the larger Corporations in Des Moines.

I have played an online game here for a couple rounds and it can be enjoyable, especially if you can make some friendships. You don't have to be on 24/7 to participate, and it is a real time based game. So, come check it out, join in on some fun. What's the worst that can happen, you try out something new for a few weeks and find out you don't like it. Even if your not interested, would you do me the favor of clicking on the link as it gets me minor in game bonuses. The real effort I'm making here is to try and get more people interested in the game as it can be fun once you know what you're doing. I will be glad to help anyone out who decides to play.
