Brand/Artist: McLoughlin Brothers
Year of Creation: 1903
Title: Wide Awake
Medium: Hand Lithograph (Not Offset)
***Hand Lithograph is when the Artist is producing the print by inking and pulling. There is not dot matix. The inks/pigments are think and on top of each other. I have provided some images. Chromoliths are produced from an original. When you look close at them you can see the dot with a circle that is very uniform. This is not that kind. Think more like a wood block pulled print. Very cool process that shows the touch of the Artist. I remember doing some in while Studying Studio Art in College.
***Some of the McLouglin Prints out on the market are Off-set Lithographs which is the process they use for books with the dot matix. Those are not the same as Hand Lithographs. If you want a Lithograph you want one hand pulled by the Artist. I consider this more of an original piece. You can tell the difference with a magnifier or loop. Under the loop you will see the thickness of ink or pigment. Under the loop for an Off-set you can see the dot matrix. Thanks!
