Sometime around 1960, my dad bought a brand new mahogany desk, probably from Sears Roebuck. This is the desk he used before he got that one. After he got the new one, I inherited this one, and that's where I did my homework, over 60 years ago. It's a genuine Larkin desk, has a label on the back. When we first had it, I recall it had a heavy, flowered curtain on the front, to cover the shelves below the desktop. At some time that disappeared, so I recently had a similar one made for it.
When I and my wife and child moved to Florida in 1984, I took this desk with me, and continued to use it for taking care of business, and preparing lesson plans for the classes I taught. Brought it back to Iowa in 2011. Now I have another desk and no longer need it. I will have all the junk unloaded out of it. For an extra $20, you may have the vintage reference books that fill the two shelves below.
