If you're into classic cars, this is the equivalent of putting a modern engine into a classic car. This is a poor man's Surly!
I have a 22 inch chromoly Specialized Crossroads frame that I have updated everything on. If you are 6 foot+ this is your size.
The modern drive train is a narrow wide(prevents chains falling off) 42 tooth chainring with SRAM NX 11 speed 11-42 cassette, rear derailleur(clutched derailleur prevents chan slap) and matching shifter. This gearing range offers plenty of options and give you nice high end speed as well as a 1:1 climbing gear for hills.
I installed some classic comfort handlebars with a high degree of back sweep. This creates a nice up right riding position with ergonomic help for your hands. Lizard skin grips for nice pop of matching color theme fun.
For tires I chose the Kenda small block 8 as they are good for any loose sand or gravel you might encounter but quiet on the pavement.
So why am I selling this bike with all these upgrades? I need the space. I like to work on old bikes as a hobby and I want to recover some of my expenses (much more than the asking price) to build a road bike.
