We are a small family egg business raising chickens with our daughter to teach animal husbandry, responsibility, and good old-fashioned common sense. We genuinely love raising healthy, happy birds, and over time we’ve realized that hatching and growing out babies is one of our favorite parts of keeping chickens.
As we refresh our laying flock, we occasionally offer extra started pullets from our grow-outs.
Available:
4 Mystic Marans pullets – $40 each
2 Cuckoo Marans pullets, one is bare legged (English type) – $40 each
1 Barred Rock pullet – $30
1 Salmon Faverolle pullet – $35
All are approximately 12 weeks old on May 26, Marek’s vaccinated, fully feathered, and well past the fragile chick stage.
These girls have been raised in a large enriched coop with natural branch roosts, outdoor acclimation, and plenty of space to develop strong flock behavior. Hen-raised and already integrated into flock life.
They are accustomed to children, cats, dogs, roosters, and natural roosting. These are sturdy, active, well-started pullets already adapted to real coop life — not brooder babies.
Expected laying ages:
Mystic and Cuckoo Marans: approximately 20–26 weeks, known for dark chocolate-brown eggs, possible speckles
Barred Rock: approximately 18–22 weeks
Salmon Faverolle: approximately 20–24 weeks
Strongly prefer homing 2+ birds together so they have companionship and an easier flock transition.
We are taking preorders ahead of the May 26th homing date so we can make sure these girls are going to thoughtful, stable homes rather than being purchased impulsively.
Located in the Des Moines area.
Please bring a crate or appropriate carrier for transport.
