Sustainable Sites seeks an Irrigation Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize commercial irrigation systems. This position is ideal for a skilled irrigation professional who can work independently, provide exceptional customer service, and help ensure the highest level of system performance for our clients.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor, test, troubleshoot, and repair existing irrigation systems.
• Conduct detailed site inspections and accurately document findings and recommendations.
• Diagnose and repair controllers, valves, wiring, pumps, sprinkler heads, and other irrigation components.
• Ensure irrigation systems operate efficiently and according to design specifications.
• Communicate site conditions, repair needs, and recommendations to customers and management promptly.
• Accurately track labor, materials, and service activities.
• Assist with irrigation system audits, seasonal startups, winterizations, and water management programs.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and according to company standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, water efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent Sustainable Sites in a positive manner.
Qualifications:
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of 3 years of irrigation or landscape industry experience.
• Active Backflow Certification required.
• Strong knowledge of irrigation controllers, valves, wiring, pumps, and system diagnostics.
• Ability to read irrigation plans and specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.

Position Details:
Type: Full-Time
Location: Des Moines Metro Area
Schedule: Monday–Friday with seasonal overtime as needed
Required Experience: 3+ years of irrigation experience
Required Certification: Active Backflow Certification
